Norte de Guayaquil predomina un corriente oceánico cálido húmedo cuyo aire causa una precipitación costera por estar forzado a subir por los flancos andinos. Así se encuentra una zona de transición entre ambos corrientes con alta pluviosidad en la frontera con Colombia y condiciones semi desierticas en la frontera con Perú.

 

Norte de la provincia de Manabí, el clima en la costa Pacífica del Ecuador se vuelve cada vez más húmedo. Se nota que las condiciones son más similares a los climas que predominan en las savanas de Africa y se encuentran formaciones de vegetación muy similares, aun  con un ritmo distinto.  La estación de lluvias es de Enero hasta Abril y la estación seca con muy poca pluviación desde Mayo hasta Diciembre.
